Superabsorbent Polymer (SAP): An Active Reservoir of Water and Energy
A high-performance hydrophilic polymer that acts as an intelligent water bank. It is not a passive “sponge”, but a dynamic system that manages soil moisture and improves the physical properties of the growing medium to the benefit of the plant.
How It Works – The Principle of Reversibility
Hydrogel particles can bind water weighing up to 100 times their own weight. This water (enriched with nutrients) is retained against gravity, meaning it does not drain into deeper soil layers but remains available in the root zone. Once the roots begin to require moisture, the polymer releases the stored water back into the soil. This cycle of absorption (swelling) and desorption (release) repeats for up to 3 years.
Unique Properties and Benefits of SAP Technology
- Mechanical soil cultivation: One of the most significant yet often overlooked advantages is the hydrogel’s ability to “loosen” the soil from within. Due to repeated expansion and contraction (swelling and shrinking), gel particles continuously disrupt soil crusting. This increases substrate porosity and improves oxygen availability to roots, which is particularly important in heavy, compact clay soils.
- Elimination of water stress: Hydrogel effectively bridges dry periods and helps delay the wilting point in plants. For professional plantings, this means significantly lower seedling mortality and reduced shock caused by irregular irrigation.
- Prevention of nutrient leaching (Anti-Leaching effect): Water stored in the polymer network is not “inactive.” The hydrogel also absorbs dissolved fertilizers into its structure. Instead of valuable nutrients being washed away during heavy rainfall or intensive irrigation, they remain “locked” in the gel and are gradually delivered to the plant together with water.
- Targeted lifespan for the establishment phase: The chemical structure of the polymer is designed to remain fully functional for 36 months. This covers the critical period of root establishment and planting stabilization. After this time, the polymer biodegrades into harmless substances without leaving environmentally harmful residues.

- Nutrients are not added in the form of salts but are long-term bound within the applied materials, making this a long-lasting fertilizer solution.
- Long-term activity: A one-time application ensures effectiveness in the soil for up to 36 months. The physical breakdown of the polymer then continues gradually over 5–7 years, during which it decomposes into stable components without negative impact on the soil.
Application is carried out into dry soil at a depth of 15–20 cm, with dosage adjusted to the size of the root system (e.g., 5–10 g per plant for shrubs).

- Tablets (Ø 25 mm, 5 g) for new and existing plantings with targeted placement in the root zone
- Loose powder fraction (0–2 mm) for large-scale establishment and mixing into substrates
- In dry form, the product appears as a grey powder (0–2 mm fraction) or tablets with a diameter of 25 mm and a weight of 5 g. After irrigation, it forms a clear and later light brown gel with visible particles.
- The product is non-toxic, non-flammable, and non-explosive, with low impurity levels.
- Recommended storage in a dry environment protects the product from moisture.
- Packaging includes 20 kg PE/PP bags, 10 kg cartons, or 5 kg PP buckets.
